So Glad You Asked with Dr. Ruta Nonacs

Coming Soon: So Glad You Asked with Dr. Ruta Nonacs

Season 1

COMING IN APRIL: Motherhood comes with a million questions. So why is it so hard to get real answers? Why does society tell moms to just “push through” - like it’s just part of the job? And when moms do ask for help, why is the first place we turn to Google? Why are we left scrolling social media or scouring the internet for answers?

That's why we created "So Glad You Asked with Dr. Ruta Nonacs" - a show where you bring your toughest maternal and mental health questions to top experts and get real, evidence-based answers and actionable resources.

Co-hosted by Dr. Ruta Nonacs, a clinical psychiatrist at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and Allie Hales, a mom of four - this show isn't just for real moms, it's by real moms. Because moms don't just deserve support, they deserve solutions - whether before or during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.

Each episode we take on questions that keep moms up at night. Every conversation is led by YOU. Your questions, your experiences, your mental health—front and center. No question is too small. No topic is off-limits. You ask. We answer.

Dr. Ruta Nonacs

Motherhood comes with a million questions. So why is it so hard to get real answers? Why does society tell moms to just deal with it? To just push through the exhaustion, the anxiety, the overwhelm, and all of the physical and emotional changes that take place? Like, it's just part of the job.

Allie Hales

And when moms do ask for help, why is the first place we turn to Google? Why are we left scrolling through social media searching for reliable answers?

Dr. Ruta Nonacs

Hi, I'm Dr. Ruta Nonacs. I'm a psychiatrist at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School with over 30 years of experience in perinatal mental health. I'm also a mother, and I've spent my career helping real moms before and during pregnancy, the postpartum, and beyond.

Allie Hales

And I'm Allie Hales, a mom of four, and I know what it's like to scour the internet wide awake at 2 a. m., wondering if what I was experiencing was normal. That's why we created So Glad You Asked, where real moms bring their toughest maternal and mental health questions to Dr. Ruta and top experts and get real answers. This show isn't just for real moms. It's by real moms. Every episode is a conversation led by you. Your questions, your experiences, your mental health, front and center.

Guest 1

Hey there, I would love to know, what should new moms or expecting moms do when they've experienced trauma before parenthood or their birth was traumatic?

Dr. Ruta Nonacs

In every episode, we take on the questions that keep moms up at night, like why you may be having a hard time connecting with your baby, whether or not you can take your medication safely during pregnancy, whether you're ready to have a family, or what to do when your anxiety takes over. And we don't just talk about it. We give you evidence-based answers and actionable resources you can use right away. Because moms don't just deserve support. They deserve solutions.

Guest 2

I have a bipolar disorder and I'm on medication. And I wanted to know whether these medications are safe during pregnancy and will it have any kind of side effect on the child?

Allie Hales

Real moms deserve real answers. And we're here to help you find them. No question is too small. No topic is off limits. You ask, we answer.
