Dr. Ruta Nonacs

Dr. Ruta Nonacs is a mom of two young adults and a psychiatrist with the Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry Clinical Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the editor-in-chief of womensmentalhealth.org. Dr. Ruta is committed to making evidence-based resources accessible to all moms and birthing people.


Dr. Ruta received her M.D. from Cornell University Medical College and her Ph.D. from Rockefeller University in New York. Her research focuses on the course and treatment of major depression in women during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and she is the author of A Deeper Shade of Blue: A Woman’s Guide to Recognizing and Treating Depression in Her Childbearing Years. She has received several honors and awards, including a NARSAD Young Investigators Award for her work on postpartum psychiatric illness in women with bipolar disorder.

Allie Hales

Allie Hales is a mom of four passionate about making reliable, relevant information available for moms like herself. Allie graduated from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar. She serves on Brigham & Women's Hospital's Newborn Medicine and Reproductive Health Advisory Board, Newton-Wellesley Hospital's Maternity Services Council, and is actively involved with the Boston Center for Endometriosis. Allie grew up in the suburbs of Boston, MA and is currently living in Baltimore, MD with her husband, Riley, a resident in anesthesia at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and their four children.

Desiree Cameron

Desiree Cameron is a mother of two, full-spectrum doula, certified lactation consultant, herbalist, and sex coach dedicated to transforming the maternal health experience for BIPOC families. She is the founder of Birthing Abundantly Maternal Services, where she specializes in supporting high-risk pregnancies and NICU families. Desiree is also the co-owner and creative director of Nature’s Playhouse, a clinical and parent wellness center offering holistic care for families.


With dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Counseling, she combines strategic consulting with deep-rooted advocacy to uplift maternal health organizations. A former higher education leader, Desiree’s journey into this work was fueled by her personal experiences navigating the systemic failures of the U.S. medical system as a Black woman. She is also a multidisciplinary creative using her voice to champion healing, liberation, and joy in parenthood.

Dr. Jade Wu

Jade Wu, PhD, DBSM, is a Board-certified behavioral sleep medicine psychologist. Her mission is to spread the gift of sleep. Dr. Wu is an author, speaker, and scientific consultant. She is a frequent guest on popular TV, radio and podcast shows like NPR and ABC, and her work is featured in publications like New York Times and Huffington Post. 


At Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Wu’s research focuses on treating sleep disorders in those with chronic illness. She presents at international academic conferences and serves as a reviewer for top-tier scientific journals, such as Behavioral Neuroscience, Sleep, and Sleep Medicine Reviews.


In the clinic, Dr. Wu uses evidence-based non-medication treatments to help people improve their sleep (and waking life). She is especially passionate about helping new parents navigate sleep challenges during pregnancy and postpartum.

Lee S. Cohen, MD

Dr. Cohen is Director of The Ammon-Pinizzotto Center for Women’s Mental Health and Associate Chief of Psychiatry for Philanthropy and Department Communications at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is the Edmund and Carroll Carpenter Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency training and fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a national and international leader in the field of women’s mental health and was among the founders of the field of Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry. His work spans the domains of research, teaching and clinical care in the area of treatment of mood and anxiety disorders with subspecialty interest in psychiatric disorders associated with female reproductive function. These include psychiatric disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period, depression in midlife women, and infertility and mental health.

Marlene P. Freeman, MD

Marlene P. Freeman, M.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School and the Abra Prentice Foundation Chair in Women’s Mental Health at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is the Associate Director of the Center for Women’s Mental Health at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Medical Director of the MGH Clinical Trials Network and Institute. Dr. Freeman completed medical school at Northwestern University Medical School. She completed residency at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Program and a research fellowship in the Biological Psychiatry Program at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.  Her research and clinical expertise is in the areas of mood disorders and women’s mental health. She also has had clinical and research interests in the areas of nutrition, integrative medicine, and mental health. She previously directed programs in women’s mental health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and at UT-Southwestern in Dallas.
